When are you open? 

Typically, exhibitions are open every day from 11am – 4pm, and the Office is open Tuesday – Friday from 10am – 3pm (closed public holidays).  Exhibition hours outside Office hours can sometimes vary.

Where are you located? 

We are located at 1297-99 High Street, Malvern (Melbourne, Australia) on the corner of High and Eva Streets (between Glenferrie and Tooronga Roads).

Are there Covid 19 restrictions?

Restrictions have been lifted, however please follow Government Covid 19 protocols and refrain from entering the premises if you are unwell.

Is there parking and public transport?

There is ample free street parking adjacent to our building and in neighbouring streets. Trams pass our door (line 6, stop #47 at the corner of High and Dixon Streets is closest).

What type of art do you focus on?

In the early days, many members specialised in realist, traditional styles of art. Today however, all types of visual art are embraced, including 3D (e.g. ceramics) and emerging (e.g. digital) art.

Can anyone become a member and attend classes?

Visual artists of all types and standards are invited to apply for membership. The public and members can attend classes. Class rates are discounted for members.

Can anyone hire the Gallery or Studio?

Applications are invited from the public and members. Visual artists of all types and standards are encouraged to apply. Solo and group exhibitions are accepted. Hire rates are discounted for members.

What exhibitions and classes are running?

Please visit the “exhibitions” and “classes” sections on this website for information on current and future scheduling.

Are exhibitions open to the public and are tickets required?

Typically, all exhibitions at the Gallery are open to members and the public and no tickets are required.

Are exhibition works for sale?

All works in exhibitions at the Gallery are usually for sale. In rare cases some exhibitions are display only.

Are children welcome?

Supervised children are welcome to attend MAS exhibitions; however, classes, workshops, and demonstrations etc are currently only run for adults.

Can I photograph exhibition works?

Photography is permitted when approved. Images can only be reproduced for personal use and cannot be used on websites or commercially.

Can you provide a valuation for works?

No, we do not provide valuations for works. The Federal Office for the Arts provides a list of approved valuers here.
