Terms and Conditions of Entry

Acceptable Works

The exhibition is open to financial members of Malvern Artists’ Society (MAS).  MAS teachers may also enter; however, they will be ineligible for prizes.  Works must not have been entered in a previous MAS exhibition.  Works may be two-dimensional (2D) (e.g. painting, drawing, watercolour, printmaking, photography, digital, mixed media) or three-dimensional (3D) (e.g. ceramics, sculpture, textiles, woodwork, mixed media).  A collaborative work created by two or more members may be entered (the same size limits apply to the work).

The artist warrants that the work is their original work and does not infringe copyright, moral or other rights.  Works must not be AI generated or multiple versions of a generic item or commercial scale reproductions.  Limited edition, fine art prints are acceptable.  Works must not pose a work, health or safety risk or any other risk to people or property.  Wet or unfinished works or works that require significant installation will not be accepted.

Delivery, Hanging and Collection

For 2D works, artists may submit up to two works.  Only one work may be up to 1.25m.  The other work must not exceed 1m.  For 3D works, artists may submit up to two works not exceeding 75cm.  Measurements include frame and mounting and refer to any dimension.   A pair or more of works combined to create one work and inseparable for sale will be treated as one entry, but together must not exceed size limits for one entry . The dimensions and weight of any work must not exceed the carrying capacity of an average person.

Works must be delivered to MAS Gallery on Tuesday, 21 July between 10am to 2pm.  Works delivered after this time will not be accepted.  Works must have a label on the back or base with the following information: Artist’s Name, Title and Price/NFS.  Titles should be brief.  2D works must be suitably framed.  Works on canvas with painted sides will be considered framed.  2D works must be fitted with flat screws or D-rings and wire for hanging (or similar).  Metal frames and stapled fixings are not permitted.  3D works must be freestanding with a stable base or be capable of being wall hung.

Unsold works must be collected from MAS Gallery on Tuesday, 4 August between 10am to 2pm.  If works cannot be collected on this date, artists must contact MAS Office before the date to discuss alternative arrangements.  MAS may dispose of a work that remains uncollected after a reasonable time.

Entry Form and Prizes

Artists must complete the Entry Form and return it to the MAS Office or lodge it on the MAS Website by 2pm, Tuesday, 14 July.  Artists must pay a fee of $10 for each work entered, either by cash, EFT, or credit card.  EFT payments should be paid to Malvern Artists Society, BSB 633 000, Account 134376078.  Entry fees are non-refundable unless the exhibition is cancelled.  Works may be for sale or not for sale.  MAS will take 15% commission on sold works.  Works may be sold by MAS before Opening Night, unless the artist notifies MAS in writing that they don’t want this to occur.

All accepted entries will be considered for the C.E.G. Beveridge Prize and other prizes.  Ordinarily the Judge will select winners for all prizes.  However, if they consider that there are insufficient entries, or the works are not of sufficient proficiency, they may elect not to award any or all prizes.  An artist is ineligible to win Best in Show if they have won a Best in Show in the preceding 3 members’ Exhibitions, however they can win all other awards.

Prizes will be announced on Opening Night. Public voting for the People’s Choice Award will continue throughout the exhibition and the winner will be announced by MAS after the exhibition is closed.

Disclaimers

This exhibition will be held at the discretion of MAS. Works will be displayed at the discretion of MAS, and in the manner decided by MAS (including possibly not displaying on Opening Night and/or rotating on and off display e.g. due to number and/or size of entries). All care will be taken when handling works, however MAS will not be responsible for any loss, theft, or damage.

Artists grant MAS the right to create and reproduce images of themselves and/or their works in whole or part by any means and in any media for archival, promotional, or other purposes (including MAS Website and social media). Winning artists must provide a high-resolution JPEG image of the work not exceeding 1.5MB to MAS upon request.
